Most used cosmetic treatments in dentistry

Aesthetic dentistry or Cosmetic Dentistry is usually performed on people who wish to improve their teeth by correcting their look. Cosmetic Dentistry is the science that deals with problems like teeth stains, chipped or crooked teeth and also missing teeth. Cosmetic Dentistry is entitled as a very powerful science because it gives everyone the ability to turn their teeth into the smile of their dreams, the kind of smile that will definitely leave a good feeling on other people.

All these teeth problems mentioned above have different solutions, through different types of teeth whitening treatments. If you’re not aware of the problems you might have in your teeth, then you should attend a consult with your dentist in order to identify and eliminate these problems. If would like to eliminate stains or teeth discoloration, then you should inform yourself about a very famous treatment in cosmetic dentistry called: “teeth whitening”. Teeth whitening is a very easy process of making your smile more bright and white. It consists on simply applying a gel which contains hydrogen peroxide, among other substances, onto your teeth. This process can be made at home easily, or if you’re not under a budget you can also do it on your dentist.
Another famous cosmetic teeth procedure is the application of a thin film, usually made of porcelain or plastic, onto the front of your teeth. These little films are called veneers, and they are usually applied to cracked teeth in order to correct their shape. Veneers also have the distinctiveness of working as a good whitening technique.

A more radical cosmetic dentistry treatment to replace missing teeth is dental implants. Dental implants are made of a very strong, non-corrosive material: titanium and they are implanted into your jawbone permanently, which gives your teeth a more natural feel.

Another treatment offered by cosmetic dentistry is dental bonding. Dental bonding consists of applying a very strong resin around your problematic teeth to correct cracks and discoloration. After applying the resin onto your teeth, your dentist will use a special light to dry and harden the resin composite. After that first step, your teeth will be polished to accomplish an improved appearance.

The last treatment in this list is called: “Dental crowns”. These are also used to fix chipped, broken or cracked teeth. These problems usually result of very violent actions like injuries or teeth grinding. In this process your injured tooth will be covered by the dental crown making your teeth not only more pretty but also stronger and stable. The crowns can be made out of different materials like metals – gold and silver – or porcelain.
